Summary at a glance: Nownote is designed from the ground up to respect your privacy. We collect zero personal data, use zero third-party tracking SDKs, and store all your notes 100% locally on your device.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Nownote ("we", "our", or "the App"), developed for iOS, handles user data. We strongly believe that a scratchpad note-taking app should be as private and confidential as physical paper.

2. Data Collection & Analytics

Nownote collects NO personal information. Specifically:

  • No Personal Identifiers: We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, phone number, or device identifiers.
  • No Note Content Access: The text you write, your checklist items, your archives, and your timestamps never leave your device. We have no access to your notes under any circumstances.
  • No Third-Party SDKs: We do not integrate any third-party analytics libraries or advertising networks.
  • No User Tracking: Nownote does not track you across apps or websites. (Apple Privacy Manifest declaration: NSPrivacyTracking: false).

3. Apple Privacy Manifest (iOS 17+)

In accordance with Apple App Store developer requirements, Nownote includes a native PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy manifest detailing all utilized APIs:

  • User Defaults API (NSPrivacyAccessedAPICategoryUserDefaults, Reason code CA92.1): Used strictly to save your app preferences (theme, typography choice) and your current note text within your private sandboxed App Group container (group.com.benoit.nownote). This data remains exclusively local.

4. Data Storage & App Group Architecture

To enable iOS 17+ interactive Home Screen widgets, Lock Screen widgets, and Dynamic Island Live Activities, Nownote stores your active note and archive in an encrypted local App Group container on your device. This container is sandboxed and accessible only by the Nownote app and its official WidgetKit extensions.

5. In-App Purchases (StoreKit 2)

Nownote offers an optional one-time In-App Purchase ("Theme Pass", 2.00 CHF) to unlock additional visual themes.

All transactions are processed directly by Apple Inc. via the App Store using Apple's StoreKit 2 framework. We do not process, receive, or store your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or payment details. Apple manages payment authorization according to the Apple Privacy Policy.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

  • You can clear your active note at any time inside the app using the "Clear" or "Archive" actions.
  • You can permanently delete past archived notes directly in the Archive History view.
  • Uninstalling the Nownote app from your iOS device immediately and permanently deletes all locally stored notes, archives, and preferences.

7. Children's Privacy

Nownote does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app is completely safe for users of all ages.
